Then & Now is a photographic project started in 2008 using old photos of the London Borough of Bexley from a variety of sources and comparing them with ones taken from approximately the same position today. We use the word ‘approximately’ purely because in some cases it proves difficult to be precise about where the 'Then' photograph was actually taken, or maybe even dangerous to take it from that point today!
Our 'Then & Now' albums are displayed at our monthly meetings.
The areas covered so far are Abbey Wood, Barnehurst, Belvedere, Blackfen, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Bexleyheath Broadway, Crayford, Erith, Northumberland Heath, Sidcup, North Cray, Foots Cray, Thamesmead and Welling with some still to be added as time permits. Some of these areas are, by the nature of the project, more comprehensively covered than others.
